ALMOST 3,000 women from across the country took part in the Limerick Women’s Mini Marathaon at the weekend raising tens of thousands of euro for local charities in the process
Irish Olympian Linda Byrne may have been first to cross the finishing line having completed the five-mile run, which was supported by the Limerick Leader, but it was charities from across the Mid West who were the real winners.
The early-morning fog lifted and by Sunday afternoon the weather was almost perfect for the runners, joggers and walkers, who participated in the event which took place in- and-around the University of Limerick campus.
Several dozen men dressed in drag also participated in the event, which marked its 15th anniversary this year.
The Limerick Leader was there to capture the spirit of the event, with several photographers marking the route, which are reproduced in our slideshow above.
