It was another busy sports weekend in Limerick with big games in rugby, soccer and hurling. We’ve picked out some of the best pictures, as captured by our photographers, over the last couple of days.
On Saturday, Munster’s Heineken Cup campaign got off to a losing start in Edinburgh meaning they now face an uphill battle to qualify for the knockout stages. But closer to home, there was a thrilling win for Doon in the Limerick MHC final in Kilmallock while on Saturday morning the meeting of Janesboro and Aisling Annacotty U-12s was our feature game from the local schoolboy soccer scene.
Moving on to Sunday and all the local rugby focus was on St Mary’s RFC. In the absence of any senior club action over the weekend, St Mary’s went centre stage in the Munster Junior League Division 1 and they delivered in style, recording a bonus point win over Skibbereen in Grove Island.
Also on Sunday, Ballynanty Rovers caused a massive shock in the Munster Junior Cup when they beat league leaders Pike Rovers 3-1 in Shelbourne Park.
