THERE were poignant scenes on the steps of the Mackey Stand as Dromin-Athlacca were crowned Limerick IHC winners this Tuesday night.
Captain Michael Reidy was joined by brothers Gearoid and Eoin O’Leary to accept the trophy from Limerick GAA chairman Oliver Mann.
Moments earlier, the chairman had extended the condolences of Limerick GAA to the two Dromin-Athlacca players on the death of their mother, Breda, who passed away last week.
He then presented the trio with the Mike O’Leary Cup - presented in memory of Gearoid and Eoin’s father in 2010.
Dromin-Athlacca had to produce a top class second half to beat Knockaderry 2-18 to 1-15. They trailed 0-12 to 1-5 at half time but a second half goal and for second half points from play from captain Reidy inspired them to the win.
