Limerick rail services to be affected by engineering works this bank holiday weekend

IRISH Rail services will be altered this bank holiday weekend due to works between Limerick and Limerick Junction.

The Transport for Ireland website outlines the various “alterations and amendments” that are being implemented as a result of the engineering works taking place.

On Saturday, October 24, the Limerick to Ballybrophy and Ballybrophy to Limerick services will be replaced by bus transfers.

Two buses will replace each service. The first will serve Castleconnell, Birdhill, Nenagh and Ballybrophy, and the second will depart from Nenagh at a later time and will serve Cloughjordan, Roscrea and Ballybrophy.

On Sunday, October 25, the 5.35pm Limerick to Ballybrophy service and the 7.40pm Ballybrophy to Limerick service are cancelled.

For Ennis and Galway services on Saturday and Sunday, bus transfers will operate directly from Limerick to Ennis, with a second bus serving Sixmilebridge and Ennis. Passengers can then travel the Ennis to Galway leg of the journey via train.

Bus transfers will operate on both days for journeys from Ennis to Limerick. Passengers travelling from Galway to Limerick should note that train services will operate to Ennis only, will the remainder of the journey being replaced by bus transfers.

For rail services to Dublin Heuston, passengers will travel by bus from Limerick to Limerick Junction, and will then travel by train from Limerick Junction to Heuston.

Passengers are advised to check the Journey Planner for full details.
