Time Club A4 Derby returns to Limerick for 2025 with €20,000 prize
The event at Limerick Greyhound Stadium is a showcase for Ireland’s Top A4 greyhounds
FOLLOWING its debut in 2024, the Time Club A4 Derby 525yds returns bigger and better in 2025, kicking off on Friday/Saturday, May 30-31 at Limerick Greyhound Stadium.
With an impressive €20,000 winner’s prize and trophy, this standout A4-only competition is quickly becoming a key fixture in the greyhound racing calendar.
This year’s event will again be for 72 greyhounds (although last year saw a bumper entry with 144 greyhounds going to traps!). The entry fee once again is €50 and backgraders are allowed, but any greyhound clocking under 28.90 seconds in either of the first two rounds will be eliminated.
To be eligible, entrants must have run a minimum of three races, regardless of distance or venue.
Derek Frehill, Director of Racing at Rásaíocht Con Éireann (RCÉ), praised the return of the competition, “The Time Club A4 Derby has quickly earned its place on the calendar. It delivers an important opportunity for dogs in the middle grades to compete for top prize money in a highly competitive environment. The strong response in 2024 showed the appetite for this kind of event, and we’re delighted to support its return.”
William Rigney, Director of TIME, added, “We were delighted with the interest of the inaugural Derby in 2024 with the exceptional entry it received along with the sport & intrigue that owners got in competing for such lucrative prizemoney.
"The format rewards consistency and keeps the competition wide open, right to the final. Also with this sponsorship we are endeavouring to deliver a huge pot of money to our customers hence preference will be given to Time Club members (those that support us).
"So please ensure your signed up & enjoy the benefits. We are also pleased to confirm that further announcements will be made in the coming weeks regarding additional TIME-sponsored events across greyhound stadia nationwide. There’s more to come, and we’re excited for what lies ahead.”
Entries close on Monday, May 26 at 11am, and preference will be given to Time Club members.
