Treaty travel to Tralee to face The Kingdom in Munster derby clash

THE TREATY United Men’s side will be looking to build on last week’s 2-2 draw with league leaders Cork City when they travel to Tralee to face Kerry FC on Friday night at 7.45pm.
The Super Blues face a Kerry side who sit sixth in the First Division table on 36 points as Colin Healy’s side continue to chase to an all important play-off position. Treaty themselves sit ninth in the table on 30 points. A win for the visitors on Friday could re-ignite play-off hopes as the season begins to reach its business end.
The Shannonsiders will be looking to bring the positives from last week’s clash with Cork to Tralee to Friday night.
Treaty looked set to claim a huge three points when substitute Dare Kareem put them ahead with just five minutes remaining, but their advantage lasted less than two minutes before Darragh Crowley bundled home the equaliser to ensure the spoils were shared.
The visitors almost made the perfect start inside three minutes when Conor Drinan created space on the left before picking out Ruairi Keating in front of goal.
The striker appeared certain to score, only for Ben Lynch to produce a remarkable last-ditch intervention to stop the effort on the line.
Despite Cork enjoying the majority of possession, it was the hosts who struck first on the quarter-hour mark. Ben Feeney and Robbie Lynch combined well down the right, allowing Feeney to deliver a clever ball from the byline.
Jason Oyenuga arrived unmarked at the back post, and his volley took a wicked bounce off the surface before deceiving Conor Brann and finding the net.
Cork continued to dominate the possession stats but struggled to break through Treaty's low block. The visitors finally threatened again ten minutes before half-time when Keating slipped Hans Mpongo through on goal.
Mpongo's low drive appeared destined for the bottom corner, but Jack Brady reacted brilliantly to palm the effort away.
Joshua Fitzpatrick followed up from the resulting corner, flashing an effort towards the top corner, only for Feeney to produce an important defensive header to divert it over.
Treaty almost doubled their advantage before the break when Feeney burst down the right and unleashed a dinked effort that forced Brann into a fingertip save.
The visitors eventually found their way through 10 minutes into the second half, with half-time substitute Sean Maguire restoring parity.
Mpongo was once again at the heart of the move, powering down the left before sending a dangerous ball across the face of goal.
Former Republic of Ireland international Maguire had the simplest of tasks, turning the ball home from close range.
With five minutes remaining, however, the Markets Field erupted. Kareem had been on the pitch for less than a minute when he burst through on goal and unleashed a powerful drive.
Brann raced from his line to make the initial save, but Kareem collected the rebound and, from an acute angle, somehow squeezed the ball through to give Treaty a late lead.
But Cork's response was immediate. Just 90 seconds later, the ball was bouncing around the Treaty penalty area following an inswinging corner.
Matthew Murray glanced the delivery towards Keating, whose fierce effort was brilliantly saved by Brady. Crowley was first to the rebound, however, and smashed the loose ball home to level the contest once again.
There was still time for one final Cork assault in stoppage time, with Keating forcing another spectacular intervention from Brady as the visitors searched desperately for a winner, but the Treaty men held firm on to secure a hard-earned point.
