Tomas O’Connor collected the Fran Mullally from Turlough McNamara after the game and praised Balla highly for keeping the pressure on all season
Fairview Rangers wrapped up their Premier League campaign with a 4-1 win over Ballynanty Rovers on Sunday morning.
The game took on a strange atmosphere as the title race had been decided earlier in the week when Balla dropped points at Mungret Regional.
Credit to Balla, where another side may have written off the game as pointless, they fulfilled the fixture, acknowledging the champions and putting up a good battle before the home side ran out winners.
Shane Duggan opened the scoring of an own goal, and further efforts from Josh McCarthy and Darragh Rainsford accounted for the winners' scores. Leon Kirrane scored for Balla.

Premier A League Healy-Webb Cup final
Carew Park 3 Moyross 2
Carew Park caused a big surprise when they defeated league champions Moyross to capture the Premier A Healy-Webb Cup in an exciting tie at Jackman Park on Saturday evening.
Moyross were crowned champions two weeks ago but Carew Park has shown huge improvement lately, making them a challenge once they arrived at Jackman Park.
As it transpired their pace up front caused the champions huge problems. Moyross only showed the hunger they are renowned for in the final 15 minutes.
Moyross had a chance to open the scoring but Carew keeper Evan Moloney made a superb save to keep out a Craig Collopy piledriver.
Carew opened the scoring midway through the half when a long ball by Moloney saw Pat Aherne race between two defenders to volley home from 18 yards.
Mike Aherne’s side doubled their lead six minutes later when good work by Pat Whelan created the opening for Callum Murphy and the speedster buried the ball from an acute angle,
Moyross responded immediately. Adrian Power broke on the left and had a shot blocked by Moloney but he returned the rebound into the area where Lee Quinn fired high into the net.
Carew regained their two-goal advantage just after the restart when Pat Boyle gathered a kick-out and lobbed the ball over keeper Harry Fleming and into the net. Moyross began to apply the pressure as the end line approached.
Cian Power headed in from Adrian Power’s cross with four minutes remaining. Despite a hectic injury time, Carew held on for a memorable win.

Division 2A Lipper Cup final
Coonagh Utd B 1 Abbey Rvs 1 (Coonagh won 4-3 on pens aet)
Perfect playing conditions greeted both teams at Jackman Park, with a well-prepared pitch and warm evening sunshine providing an excellent setting for the Division 2A Lipper Cup Final.
Coonagh created the first notable opportunity of the game when a dangerous cross from the left found Ger Hodkinson, whose glancing effort drifted just wide of the target.
As the first half progressed, both sides enjoyed spells of possession. On 31 minutes, Coonagh came close to breaking the deadlock when James Daly's long kick released Ralph Leonard, who rounded the goalkeeper but could only steer his effort wide from a difficult angle.
Abbey's first effort on goal saw Jordan Moran denied by Coonagh goalkeeper James Daly who produced an excellent save to keep the scores level.
The second half opened at a lively pace and the breakthrough arrived on 62 minutes. Following sustained pressure and a scramble inside the penalty area, the ball fell kindly to Moloney, who calmly side-footed his finish into the bottom corner to give Coonagh a 1-0 lead.
Soon after the goal, Abbey introduced Jake McGrath, and the substitution proved to be a turning point. The momentum swung dramatically in Abbey's favour, and McGrath made an immediate impact with a stunning half-volley from over 30 yards that flew into the net, lifting his teammates and catching the Coonagh defence off guard.
With 15 minutes remaining, both sides pushed hard for a winner. Chances came at both ends, with both goalkeepers producing important saves. McGrath nearly completed the turnaround for Abbey when his free kick crashed off the crossbar.
The final whistle signaled extra time, and once again both teams went in search of a decisive goal. The best opportunity fell to Leonard, who rounded the Abbey goalkeeper only to see his effort brilliantly cleared off the line by Adam Ingles. From the resulting corner, Ingles came to Abbey's rescue once more with another crucial goal-line clearance.
With neither side able to find a winner, the final was decided by a penalty shootout. The teams remained closely matched from the spot before Daly produced a crucial save to secure a 4-3 shootout victory for Coonagh United and retain the Lipper Cup.
It was a hard-fought and entertaining final, with both teams contributing to an excellent contest before Coonagh ultimately prevailed on penalties.

Open Cup Final
Corbally Utd C 5 Prospect Priory B 0
Corbally Utd C captured the Open Cup on Sunday afternoon when they beat fellow Division 2B side Prospect Priory B by five goals in Jackman Park.
A dazzling eight-minute period midway through the second half saw the winners run in four goals to kill the contest.
The speed of the Corbally front line was proving too much for Prospect, in particular Eoghan O’Connell who netted twice in a dominating display.
Corbally took the lead after just three minutes. A good exchange of passes midway inside the Prospect half by Niall McCarthy and Eoghan O’Connell saw the latter fire over the keeper into the top corner for a sweet goal.
Prospect went close to an equaliser when Jay Johnson forced Corbally keeper Harry Bennis full length to keep his effort out.
Corbally struck again on the hour mark. Gavin O’Regan’s harmless-looking ball forward was being allowed run to the keeper when Tommy O’Brien nipped in like a flash to knock the ball past the keeper to fire into an empty net.
Two minutes later O’Connell dispossessed his marker on the left and cut infield before firing low into the bottom corner from 15 yards.
Prospect barely had time to recover when O’Brien raced down the line, cut in along the end line before shooting past Cregan in the Prospect goal.
Sean Kiely completed the rout minutes later when the referee played a good advantage as the striker raced clear of the defence and kept his composure to finish.
Prospect never gave up and but for some fine saves by Bennis would have registered a few scores but it was not their day.
