TREATY United fell to a 3-1 loss to Cork City in their second game of the Avenir All-Ireland Cup at the Markets Field this Saturday evening.

First half goals from Fiana Bradley and Christina Dring saw Cork in firm control at the break. Eva Mangan added a third in the second half but Treaty got a consolation late on through Michaela Cumes. The defeat ends Treaty's hopes of reaching the knockout stages. Treaty play DLR Waves in their final game in the competition this coming Friday at the Market's Field.

Cork dominated the game from the first whistle with Eva Mangan running the show in midfield. She came closest to scoring early on with a free kick that sailed just over. They made no mistake on 11 minutes.

The home side failed to clear a ball in from the right hand side and Bradley was first to react with a powerful finish into the top corner to put her side in front. It was her first senior goal for the Rebels.

Treaty's first effort on goal arrived five minutes later when Katie Lawlee beat a couple of defenders and set up Cara Griffin for a shot. However, it was well wide of the target.

Cork continued to dominate proceedings in the first half and were rewarded with a second goal on the 27 minute mark. A slick team move saw Dring in behind the Treaty defence and she placed a low shot under Katie Irwin to put Cork 2-0 in front.

The closest that Treaty United came to creating anything concrete in the first half came from a pinpoint delivery from the left by Lawlee that looked for Ruth McDonnell but Cork keeper Abby McCarthy got to the ball just ahead of the striker.

It was the same story in the second half with Cork on top throughout. Dring nearly added a second goal two minutes after the restart after being set up by Kiera Sena but her curling shot hit the crossbar.

Irwin was forced into a couple of saves on the hour mark doing well to deny Chloe Atkinson and Sena, before substitute Ellie O'Brien hit the bar.

However, Cork soon got a third when Mangan weaved her way through the Treaty defence and found the target for a deserved goal.

Treaty came close to scoring through a thunderbolt of a free kick from Grace McInerney but McCarthy made a stunning save and then denied Lawlee from the rebound.

Their hard work was rewarded five minutes from time when Cumes benefitted from a slip from McCarthy to tap into an empty net to make the final score 3-1 to Cork.
