TREATY United have been dealt a big blow ahead of their season start on Friday with the news that Ryan Connolly has left the club due to work commitments.

Connolly had only signed for Treaty in December and was part of the starting lineup that beat a Limerick District League selection in the club's final pre-season game at Jackman Park last Friday.

However, it has now emerged that the former Derby County, Sligo Rovers, Shamrock Rovers and Finn Harps midfielder will not be part of Tommy Barrett's plans going forward.

The club released a statement on this Tuesday evening that said the following:

"It is with regret Treaty United announce the departure of midfielder Ryan Connolly from their senior squad due to work commitments.

"Connolly informed Manager Tommy Barrett of his change in work commitments this week which meant he was unable to give the commitment required for the season. All at Treaty United would like to thank Ryan for his contribution and we wish him well in his new venture."

Treaty United play Bray Wanderers at the Markets Field on Friday in their opening SSE Airtricity League First Division fixture. The game at the Markets Field has a 7:45pm start.
