Munster Rugby have confirmed a two-year contract extension for Edwin Edogbo that keeps him at the province until at least 2029

The 23-year-old Ireland international came up through the ranks at Cobh Pirates and UCC and became the first player from Cobh to enter the Munster Rugby Academy in 2021.

He has scored seven tries in 31 appearances for Munster to date and became the latest Academy graduate to make his Ireland debut against Italy in this year’s Six Nations.

Edwin made his Munster debut away to Dragons in 2022 and made eight appearances over the URC title-winning campaign of 2022/23. His third start for Munster saw Edogbo help Munster to a brilliant win over South Africa A at Páirc Uí Chaoimh in November 2022.

An impressive start to the 2023/24 campaign saw Edogbo make seven starts before sustaining an Achilles injury against Leinster in December. After missing all of the 2024/25 season, Edogbo made a welcome return to action against Edinburgh in October last year.

He started the win over Leinster at Croke Park and went on to make 16 appearances for Munster last season, including his Champions Cup debut against Bath.

His impressive form earned Edogbo a call-up to the Ireland squad for the Six Nations and he made his international debut against Italy in February. His brother Seán made his Munster debut last season in a Player of the Match performance against Dragons and was promoted from the Academy to the senior squad this season.

Edogbo is currently recovering from a shoulder injury and is due to make his comeback in the coming weeks.

Munster Rugby General Manager Ian Costello said:

"We are delighted that Edwin has made the decision to commit his future to Munster, despite significant interest from clubs across Europe.

"He is part of an exciting group of emerging home-grown players that are pivotal to the future success of the club.

"Edwin possesses unique qualities, and has the potential to excel at the highest level.

"We look forward to supporting his continued development and seeing him fulfil that potential in both a Munster and an Irish shirt."

Head Coach Clayton McMillan said:

"Edwin is a talented young player with a physical profile that is highly sought after in the modern game. He has the size, athleticism and work ethic to make a significant impact at the highest level.

"We're grateful that Edwin has chosen to commit his future to Munster. He has worked hard through some challenging setbacks and is an important part of what we are building here.

"We look forward to seeing him continue to develop and fulfil his potential in the years ahead."
