AFTER a frantic finale in SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh, Limerick regained the Munster Senior Hurling Championship title.

They took the Mick Mackey Cup off Cork - beating the Rebels in their own backyard, scoring a 1-21 to 2-17 win by the banks of the Lee.

A seventh provincial crown under the management of John Kiely means Limerick enter the All-Ireland series at the semi-final stage.

A huge battle at Croke Park awaits on the first weekend of July with Clare or Dublin the probable opponents.

After witnessing a sea of green as Cian Lynch raised the Cup to the delight of the thousands of travelling Treaty supporters, the manager knows he can count of the supporters at Croke Park.

“The support was just incredible,” said Kiely after the game. “Right when we needed it as well in those final minutes towards the end, they were fantastic, they’re great.

“It’s not easy - it’s 50 quid a ticket and it’s hard to get the family tickets.

“It is expensive. They were in (the TUS Gaelic Grounds) two weeks ago and they were there the week before that. Going right back to January - it’s a massive commitment by a supporter to follow your team every day and it means a big deal to us that they invest so much to follow this group of players, it’s not easy.”
