THE NEW owners of a magnificent nine-bedroom abode in Limerick will have something priceless included in the sale - the Rawleystown Cup.
Michelle McInerney, marketing manager at O’Connor Murphy – selling agents for the €2m mansion in Rawleystown, Lough Gur – said the cup was presented every Christmas by the home’s current owners.
“On St Stephen’s Day the dads and then the children play a game of soccer, with the cup going to the winning team. The cup will stay with the house so the new owners can continue the tradition if they see fit,” said Ms McInerney.
And this isn’t a match on a muddy lawn with jumpers for goalposts. The house has an enclosed, floodlit five-a-side 3G astroturf pitch with a children’s play area beside it.
There’s also a basketball court, a putting green with four tee boxes and an outdoor swim spa, all set on 6.8 acres of mature, landscaped grounds.
The house, over three levels, has a distinctly Treaty feel as its owners are from Limerick, it was designed by David H Leahy Architects, interior designer Jennifer Gabbett lent her expertise and local businesses and tradesmen helped to make and install the feature fireplaces and stairs.
Ms McInerney reports “very good interest” despite Rawleystown only being on the market a week when she spoke to the Leader.
“We have interest from Europe and Limerick, Cork and Dublin in Ireland. It is a really beautiful, unique and secluded house. A lot of people didn’t know it’s there because you can’t see it from the road.”
Constructed in 2007, the house extends to circa 977 m² / 10,515 sq ft. The reception rooms include a double-height formal lounge, family room and playroom. There are a total of nine bedrooms and 10 bathrooms.
On the ground floor, a guest suite has its own living room. There’s also a self-contained, one-bedroom staff apartment with its own kitchen, living space, and bathroom.
The leisure wing has a gym with a sauna and Jacuzzi and an open-plan games room with a bar - the perfect place for the new owners to toast their purchase. It also includes a round tower, where a spiral staircase leads up to a terrace overlooking the grounds.
The property is being sold fully furnished, excluding art and personal items, but the Rawleystown Cup stays with the house. For more contact 061 279 300 or [email protected]
