A SCHOOL in Adare is hosting a number of fundraising events to raise money to develop new facilities for pupils.

Shountrade Adare National School is hosting a tractor, truck, bike and car run to gather the money to develop the school's sports field.

The run will take place on Sunday, April 28 and will kick off from the Clonshire Equestrian Centre. Registration is at 9.30am with the run starting at 12.30am.

Elaine Lyons, principal of the school is hoping to see the support of the community, as well as past pupils and parents of past pupils, for the event.

“We are hoping to see neighbours and friends, as well as parents and past pupils come out to show support. I would like to give a mention to the tireless work of the parent's council, without them, none of this would be possible,” said Mrs Lyons.

The school is looking to develop a field which is adjacent to the school into a sports field, a running track, a biodiversity garden and a sensory garden.

“We are also looking to put in a sensory garden, for students with sensory needs, physical needs, or who just need a bit of quiet time” said Mrs Lyons.
