Filmmaker Katrina Costello receiving the best documentary award for The Silver Branch at The Innsbruck Film Festival
THE Belltable will screen the award winning documentary The Silver Branch as part of its IFI season on Monday night.
A cinematic eulogy to nature and agrarian culture and a glimpse into the life of farmer/poet Patrick McCormack, it was shot in the Burren by Clare filmmaker Katrina Costello.
Costello is just back from The Innsbruck Film Festival where the jury voted The Silver Branch the best documentary for its hypnotic meditative nature, praising its deep connection to the natural environment and heightening awareness of our role in protecting our vulnerable planet.
“I am delighted to have received this award, as the valuation meets the vision I have always held for the film,” she said, “which is to transport people into a place within them, to reconnect with nature and perhaps to see it differently – to ponder the relationship between man and landscape, between tradition and spirit, between body and soul.”
