Both city and county have an exciting calendar of events this week

Limerick bursting with everything from gigs to agri shows this week

The Saw Doctors will be taking to the Docklands stage this Friday, August 15

THERE is no shortage of things to do in Limerick this week, with music festivals, movies in the Milk Market and, of course, the Cappamore Show keeping locals and visitors alike very busy!

The popular Live at the Docklands festival has returned to the banks of the Shannon, with a wide range of Irish and international artists.

The stage, already graced by Moncrieff on Saturday, August 9, will see performances from Picture This, The Saw Doctors, Block Rockin Beats and The Waterboys this week, with special guests throughout.

Next week, Kingfishr will be performing on Friday, August 22, with Qween and Kaiser Chiefs also taking to the stage.

Mick Dolan said he “can’t wait to welcome fans to what promises to be our biggest and best festival yet.

“Limerick will be buzzing this August, and we’re ready to make it a summer to remember,” said Mick.

Many of the shows are already sold out, though - at time of writing - tickets are still available for The Waterboys, Qween and Kaiser Chiefs. Fans can secure tickets for remaining acts via Dolans.ie and Ticketmaster.

Music is not just limited to the Docklands this weekend, though, with Féile na Gréine, a festival celebrating “emerging and experimental” music, taking over bars across the city.

Trad music fans will enjoy Birdhill Tradfest, taking place this Friday, August 15 to Sunday, August 17. PJ Murrihy and Sean O Sé are among those due to play.

Limerick City and County Council also have a range of music and culture events organised for this Saturday, August 16, with events such as busking and street performers at Harvey's Quay Bandstand and Tapas & Trad and a Summer Salsa Session in Honan's Quay

The council will also be continuing its Movies at the Milk Market series, with Toy Story playing this Wednesday, August 13, and Despicable Me 2 on Thursday, August 14. More information at Limerick.ie

In County Limerick, the Cappamore Show is bound to be a great day out on Saturday, with Knockaderry Fayre taking place on Sunday.
