Aerobics class and workout to support Limerick charity

Aerobics class and workout to support Limerick charity

The event will be led by Richie Clifford

A FREE aerobics class and workout will take place at the University of Limerick arena this Monday to raise funds for St Vincent de Paul.

The hour-long event, which will be led by Richie Clifford and Derek Mackessy, takes place between 6pm and 7pm on Monday with participants asked to make donations to the charity.

Returning for its second year, Richie says he was proud to be able to support St Vincent de Paul last year - raising hundreds of euro.

Both he and Derek are hoping to get as many participating and donating this year to raise the bar even higher.

The Total Body Workout in aid of St. Vincent de Paul is open to all ages above 16 and Richie promises that the class will be open for everyone to move “at their own pace.”

Earlier this year, host Derek Mackessy ran the equivalent of one and-a-half marathons every day for 20 days in aid of the Irish heart foundation, raising nearly €10,000 for the cause.

Richie is appealing to anyone who can to come along on Monday to help support the cause: “I’m very lucky in my life, my mother was a giver, my wife is a giver, my daughter is a giver. I’m from a house of givers.” said the fitness instructor.

Proud to be supporting St. Vincent de Paul, he added: "There are incredible people working for this and all charities. We wish them all the best of luck over Christmas. These people are working themselves to the bone. How easy it is for us to take a fiver out of your pocket and help the person that’s stuck.”
