Ear to the Limerick ground

IN the last episode of Ear to the Ground, viewers will spend a day in Limerick with one of the country’s up-and-coming jockeys.

For the show's 30th season, experienced reporter, Darragh McCullough, made a stop in Limerick, where he spent the day with one of Ireland’s up-and-coming young jockeys –Darragh O’Keeffe from Doneraile, Co Cork.

At the crack of dawn near Bruree, the two Darragh met at the yard of trainer Enda Bolger, where he was exercising.

‘A Day In The Life of a Jockey’ offers a “fascinating insight” into the daily grind of a jobbing jockey as they work to forge a career in "one of the toughest businesses around."

A weekly television programme broadcast on RTÉ One, Ear The Ground is a popular farming and rural affairs series.

In this year’s series, journalist Darragh McCullough understood that things are tough for everybody. “And, farmers are no different, having endured three of the wettest summers on record. But, he’s looking forward to being on the road again, seeking out inspiring ideas and stories, confronting tough stories, and asking the hard questions that everyone else is afraid to ask.”

On Thursdays, Ear to the Ground can be watched on RTÉ One at 7pm.
