There has been heavy snowfall in many parts of Limerick overnight
MANY parts of Limerick are covered in a blanket of snow this Friday morning following the arrival of Storm Emma and the ‘Beast from the East’ overnight.
Snow began falling in many places from around 9pm on Thursday with reports of blizzard-like conditions in some areas.
While Limerick city appears to have escaped the worst of the bad weather so far there are several inches of show in many towns and villages across the county including Kilmallock (see video below).
A status red weather warning, which was due to be lifted at 3pm this Friday, has been extended by Met Éireann and remains valid until 6pm.
Gardai and Limerick Fire and Rescue say there were no reports of any major incidents in Limerick overnight as most people heeded government warnings to stay indoors.
