Temperatures are set to reach a balmy 21 degrees this week but experts have disappointingly predicted "dull and damp" days ahead as unsettled conditions are expected with some counties bracing for heavy rain and thunderstorms.
While countries across Europe a currently experiencing a "heat-dome" with temperatures soaring to over 40 in some places, Ireland will see more widespread rain and winds over the coming week.

Tuesday
Dry for many today with the best of the sunshine in the west and north. Cloudier across the east and south with some lingering drizzle and mist. Spells of sunshine will develop more widely this evening, but there'll be a few showers too. Highest temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees in light north to northwest winds.
Tonight will be dry for many with isolated showers and clear spells. A few more frequent showers will push into western coastal counties towards morning. Lowest temperatures of 6 to 11 degrees in light northwesterly or variable winds.
Wednesday
Tomorrow will be a fresher day with spells of sunshine and scattered showers, some of which will be heavy or thundery over the northern half of the country. The showers will become more isolated in the evening. Highest temperatures of 14 degrees in the northwest to 20 degrees in the southeast in light to moderate westerly breezes.
Becoming cloudier overnight with outbreaks of rain and drizzle developing across the western half of the country later. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees with light to moderate southwest winds developing

Thursday
Bright to begin on Thursday with sunny spells in the south but cloudier conditions further north with patchy rain and drizzle. Scattered showers will push eastwards through the late morning, clearing most places later in the afternoon leaving a mainly dry and bright evening. Highest temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees in moderate to fresh westerly winds.
Dry with clear spells for most at first but cloud will thicken from the northwest overnight with a few patches of rain and drizzle pushing into the west and north by morning. Mild with lowest temperatures of 10 to 14 degrees in moderate to fresh southwest winds.

Friday
Quite windy on Friday with outbreaks of rain and drizzle spreading from the northwest through the day, in fresh to strong southwest winds. Highest temperatures of 14 to 19 degrees.
Saturday
A dull and damp day with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle. Highest temperatures of 16 to 21 degrees in moderate west to southwest winds.
Further outlook: Generally unsettled on Sunday and early next week with rain and showers.
