Met Éireann is warning that temperatures will plummet later this week
A STATUS yellow low temperature/ice warning for Limerick has come into effect with Met Éireann predicting that temperatures will plummet overnight.
The forecaster, which updated the warning this Thursday lunchtime, says it will be very cold with temperatures likely to fall well below zero in places.
"very cold with temperatures expected to fall below -3 degrees in many areas. Frost and ice developing will cause hazardous travelling conditions," it states.
The status yellow warning, which applies to all of Ireland, came into effect at 5pm this Thursday and remains valid until 12 midday on Friday.
Primary routes and heavily-used footpaths have already been treated and local authority crews in Limerick and across the country have been placed on standby.
