Storm Babet makes her presence known as warnings in place for most of the country

Storm Babet is making her presence known across the country this morning with a status orange weather warning in place for three counties, Cork, Kerry, and Waterford, which is to remain in place until one o clock this afternoon.

A yellow warning is in place for most of Leinster and Munster with outbreaks of heavy rain expected with some flooding likely.

Rain will be especially heavy in southern coastal counties during the morning with a heightened risk of flooding and disruption there. Highest temperatures of 12 to 16 degrees, in a moderate to fresh and gusty east to southeast wind, easing in southern areas later.

Tonight the rain will be widespread across the country with heavy falls bringing the chance of localised flooding. Turning drier from the south later although there will be some showers also. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees in moderate southeast breezes.

Impacts from the storm will include flooding, poor visibility, and dangerous road conditions. Motorists are advised to drive with extra care.
