TWO men have been arrested following a significant garda operation on the northside of Limerick city.

Suspected cannabis worth an estimated €3,000 and more than €15,000 in cash was seized when a number of properties and areas of open space in the Moyross area were searched this Friday afternoon.

"Gardaí conducted searches at 14 properties in the area which resulted in the seizure of €3,000 worth of cannabis, €15,000 in cash and a small quantity of cocaine. Two men in their 20s were arrested as a result," said a garda spokesperson.

The men are currently being detained at garda stations in Limerick city under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

All of the items and suspected drugs have been seized by investigating gardaí and they will now be sent for analysis at Forensic Science Ireland (FSI).

Garda say investigations are ongoing.
