LIMERICK is fast becoming a powerhouse for film production, with cameras rolling once again for a new “epic” fantasy series.
Pre-production is underway for major US TV series The Wayfinders, which will be shot in Troy Studios, Castletroy, and across Limerick and Mid-West landscapes.
As well as shining a spotlight on Limerick and the region in the film world, the new series is also set to provide a jobs boost with 140 crew members and up to 200 extras expected on set each day.
A tale born of myth and magic, The Wayfinders follows a group of unlikely heroes as they journey through a fractured realm in search of unity, purpose, and power.
Featuring immersive storytelling, striking visuals, and a cast of both rising stars and familiar faces, the series promises to captivate fans of high fantasy across the globe.

Following the successful shoot of the pilot episode in Limerick last October, starring Mackenzie Crook (The Office, Pirates of the Caribbean) and directed by Glen Winter (Smallville, Arrow, The Flash), the full-scale production of Season 1 is now underway.
Watch some of the behind-the-scenes action here during filming of the pilot.
At the centre of this project is Film in Limerick, with regional film manager Paul C. Ryan saying: “We were thrilled to bring the pilot to the region and are even more excited to see the full series now filming in Limerick and the wider region.
“It’s a testament to the talent of our local crews, the quality of our facilities, and the growing reputation of the Mid-West as a leading hub for film and television production.”
A collaboration between US-based Arrowstorm and Limerick’s own Dark Day Pictures, the production is expected to generate an employment and economic boost to the region.
“We’re thrilled to bring The Wayfinders Season 1 back to Limerick and the region,” said producer Stephen Hall of Dark Day Pictures.
“As a Limerick local, it's incredibly exciting to make our magical show here and showcase our stunning locations and brilliant crews to the world.
“The support from the councils, businesses, and local community has been phenomenal. There’s something truly special growing in the Mid-West, and it’s an honour to be part of it.”
With pre-production already in motion and filming set to commence this month, The Wayfinders is poised to put Limerick’s cinematic potential on dazzling display.
A casting day took place at the Clayton Hotel in the city some weeks ago, with MovieExtras.ie reporting paid positions to feature in a “medieval fantasy TV show” as an Orc, fairy, sorceress, knight or princess.
More casting news is expected in the coming weeks.
