TALK OF another international production coming to Limerick has been swirling, as a paid TV opportunity for members of the public has been advertised.

While not officially announced yet, MovieExtras.ie is advertising online for paid audience members in Limerick to join them in the filming of US game show, Don’t Forget The Lyrics, in April.

The hit US game show, hosted by Niecy Nash, features contestants singing and recalling song lyrics in the hope of winning a major cash prize of $1,000,000.

The advert on MovieExtras.ie reads: “Filming will take place in Limerick from April 9 to 15, 2025.

“We are looking for fun, energetic and enthusiastic audience members to cheer on contestants playing for $1m!

“Applicants will be required for one to three shoot dates and more details to follow.”

The notice also says that it is paid work, that the dress code is “glamorous, classy, Saturday night dress to impress” and that production is “in the early stages of preparation” so exact dates and details are yet to be confirmed.

With a new tax incentive in Budget 2025 to encourage more unscripted TV productions in Ireland, it is seemingly already attracting international attention.

Regional film manager of Film in Limerick, Paul C Ryan, said: “There are a lot of factors that play in our favour to see more unscripted production in the Mid-West.

“We have world-class studios at Troy, an ever-increasing crew base, a film-friendly approach and a reputation for working with inward productions to deliver results. We are open for business and ready to welcome new productions.”

A new version of Don’t Forget the Lyrics debuted on FOX in 2022. A reboot of the show that aired first in the US in 2007, the primary difference between this game show and other music-based game shows is that artistic talent, such as the ability to sing or dance, is irrelevant to the contestants’ chances of winning.

In the words of one of their adverts prior to the first airing: “You don't have to sing it well, you just have to sing it right”.
