ONE LIMERICK native has been chosen to be part of the new series of Underdogs on TG4 which is focusing on women's soccer this season.
Moyross FC player, Hayleigh Power, is the only Limerick player to be selected for the TV show among other women from across the country.
Hayleigh, who grew up playing with the boys in Pike Rovers and is originally from Southill, decided this would be her newest challenge before applying for the TV show. The players chosen in the Underdogs squad are trained by a panel of expert coaches to go up against some of the country’s top footballers.
"I love taking on a new challenge and everyone was saying to me that I should apply for it but had no real interest at the start. Then the show got on to me because I was member of the Irish street soccer team and some of the girls on the show were also apart of that team. I am the only woman picked from Limerick and it is just another opportunity to put the county on the map."
The show which airs tonight Thursday, October 26 on TG4 at 9:30pm features players that will be chosen and trained by a panel of expert coaches to go up against some of the country’s top footballers.
Among the star coaches are ex-Irish international and RTÉ pundit Méabh de Búrca, former Finn Harps player and manager Charlie McGeever and Drogheda United’ head of women’s football Laura Donovan.
