A UNIQUE opportunity for aspiring footballers to combine sport and education in the United States is coming to Limerick in April, as Treaty United partners with Midway University (USA) to host a one-day USA College Soccer Showcase.

Taking place on Friday, April 3 the event will be held at the Technological University Of The Shannon (TUS) and will give talented players aged 16–24 the chance to train, compete and be evaluated by coaches connected to the American collegiate system. One standout participant will earn an opportunity towards a U.S. college scholarship.

The showcase is being delivered in collaboration with experienced U.S.-based coach Stuart Riddle and Midway University, a Kentucky institution known for developing student-athletes both academically and athletically.

The event aims to provide Irish players with a genuine pathway into U.S. college soccer, where athletes can pursue third-level education while continuing to play at a competitive level.

Participants will take part in a full-day of elite coaching, assessment, and competitive matches. The programme includes:

  • Professional coaching sessions led by Treaty United and Midway University staff
  • Small-sided and full 11v11 matches to assess performance
  • Direct exposure to U.S. college recruitment pathways
  • An educational seminar covering NCAA and NAIA systems, scholarships, and academic requirements

Parents and players will also receive guidance on eligibility, visas, and recruitment timelines, offering a comprehensive understanding of the U.S. college system.

This collaboration reflects Treaty United’s commitment to player development and expanding international opportunities for local talent.

By hosting the showcase, the club continues to position itself as a key hub for football development in the Mid-West, connecting players with global pathways beyond the traditional domestic route.

The showcase is open to ambitious players aged 16–24, including:

  • Academy players
  • League of Ireland youth players
  • Schoolboy league players
  • Leaving Certificate students considering overseas education

The event will be taking place on Friday, April 3 at the Technological University Of The Shannon (TUS) and all participants will receive a ticket to Treaty United’s evening fixture vs Longford Town.
