Power outages have caused issues at water treatment infrastructure

OVERNIGHT restrictions are in place in Abbeyfeale tonight to maintain a daytime water supply as a result of the impact of Storm Kathleen on water treatment infrastructure.

Power outages caused by the storm on Saturday resulted in outages in the area and nighttime restrictions are now necessary to allow reservoir level recover.

Customers in Abbeyfeale and the surrounding areas may experience reduced pressure from midnight tonight, until 8am on Sunday. It can take two to three hours following restoration of pressure for normal supply to be fully restored.

Uisce Éireann’s water operations lead, Duane O’Brien, outlined: "We want to thank impacted customers for their patience as we work to restore normal supplies.

"We are appealing to customers to help conserve water by not running taps needlessly, taking showers instead of baths and to postpone using dishwashers and washing machines where possible. Further information on water conservation is available on our website at www.water/conserve."

Uisce Éireann continues to monitor reservoir levels and will provide a further updates if additional restrictions are needed.

The Uisce Éireann customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1800 278 278 and customers can also contact them on X @IWCare with any queries.
