Ronan O'Gara tipped for new coaching role back in France

Ronan O'Gara is being linked with a new coaching position in the French Top 14

RONAN O'GARA is tipped to take up a new coaching role back in the French Top 14 next season.

French newspaper L'Equipe is reporting that former Munster and Ireland out-half O'Gara is set for a return to the Top14 in a coaching role with La Rochelle.

Challenge Cup finalists La Rochelle confirmed the departure of backs coach Xavier Garbajosa on Monday.

O'Gara is currently assistant coach with Super Rugby side Crusaders in New Zealand. He is tipped to take up a three-year-deal as backs coach with La Rochelle, where former Ulster coach Jono Gibbes is the director of rugby, L'Equipe reports.

Forty two-year-old O'Gara was assistant coach with Racing 92 from 2013 until 2018 before moving to the Crusaders.

The Super Rugby season finishes on 6 July.
