Limerick Student Race Day 2019 - Betting Tips

It is Limerick Student Race day and we have the tips you need

The Limerick Student Race Day takes place at Limerick Racecourse, with races off at 2.05pm. Below we pick the horses that might enjoy their trip around the course as much as the students themselves. Enjoy and stay safe.

Fresh off the back of a second successive Grand National win, it’s hard to look past the Gordon Elliott/Davy Russell combination for this one, so we’ve opted for Cornakill Rose. If he continues improving, he looks a great price at third favourite. Gipsy Lee Rose and Late Again are ahead of him in the betting with the former running off the highest mark and the former showing snippets of form recently.

Favourite: Gipsy Lee Rose 2/1

Our tip: Cornakill Rose 7/1

Debuchet, although a beaten favourite last time out in Navan, looks a class ahead of the field. With a previous win under her belt in Limerick.  For those who prefer to go against the grain, another of Elliott’s champion jockey’s Jack Kennedy is on the back of Monition for this one, who looks a contender if you can get him at the right price.

Favourite: Debuchet 13/8

Our tip: Debuchet 13/8

Allduckornodinner is another beaten favourite last time out only 18 days ago.  Having not really threatened in Downpatrick, it’s hard to be overly confident in this chaser.  With no outstanding leader, we’d go for Davy Russell on the back of Darling miss but at 10/3 there’s little each way value. Another who commands respect is Torquay, with two previous second place finishes on course off starting prices of 7/1 and 5/1, he gets the ew nod from us.

Favourite: Allduckornodinner 11/4

Our tip: Torquay 10/1 (ew)

Cadawill is a previous course and distance winner but with no signs of that ability recently, we have to look further down the card than the 10 year-old.  We’re looking to West is Best to recreate his winning form at course and distance last time out, over course and distance just 25 days. Having beaten fellow contender All About Alfie on that occasion, we fancy him to do the same here.

Favourite: West is Best 9/4

Our tip: West is Best 9/4

Dark Decade has emerged as the SP favourite with Leave Your Mark in hot pursuit. This is shaping up to be a battle of two high class jockeys who are fresh off victories in some bigger markets, in Jack Kennedy and Mark Walsh. A reverse forecast would be clever but for the once-a-year-punters, it’s more a case of take your pick.

Dark Decade 10/3 and Leave Your Mark 7/2

This is arguably the most competitive race of the day with previous course and distance winners littered throughout, there’s little to separate the top four horses.  Capture the Drama is the most storied horse of the race with many wins under his belt, weight or lack of it, could be an issue however, with the 11-year-old giving a full stone to Na Trachtai Abu, who is our pick (e/w). With the fancied Internal Transfer a horse to avoid at those odds. Keep an eye on Stooshie, as Davy Russell’s recent form suggests he wins 1 out of every 4 races, this could just be the one on the day.

Favourite; Internal Transfer 9/4

Our tip: Na Trachtai Abu 7/1 (e/w)

The Church Gate who was in a rich vein of form before coming a disappointing fourth last time out as an odds on favourite, looks great value here. If he runs to his form, he could win by 5 lengths, as he has done under jockey Keith Donoghue before. That last race has planted seeds of doubt, but with Eviscerating at such short odds, this is worth a punt.

Favourite: Eviscerating 11/8

Our tip: The Church Gate 7/1

Kilbarry Calling is likely to go off as a joint favourite and he’s our pick for the last.  Having placed in five of his last 8 races, not finishing any lower than five in those races, she’s bang in form and looks a serious contender

Favourite: Bee a Beneficiary 5/4

Our Tip:  Kilbarry Calling 11/4
