There were two games in round two of the Limerick Senior Football championship this evening
There were two games this evening in the Irish Wire Products sponsored Limerick Senior Football Championship, with Ballylanders and Newcastle West taking the spoils.
Ballylanders got their first two points of the season with a big win over St Senan's. A 48th minute goal for Ballylanders from Steve Fox, off an Eoin Walsh pass, was the key score in the game, which helped them into a 1-11 to 0-8 lead. Jimmy Barry Murphy topped the winning side's scoring chart with 0-7, while 10 of St Senan's points came from the boot of Richard Hayes.
St Senan's are now bottom of Group one following the opening two rounds of games.
In group two, Newcastle West maintained their 100% record with a 2-15 to 1-6 win over St Kieran's, themselves a winner in round one, in Knockaderry.
Two goals from Iain Corbett, either side of the half-time break, helped secure a 12 point win for NCW, as Sean McSweeney grabbed a first half goal for Kieran's.
Newcastle West led by two points at the break (1-5 to 1-3) but with Kieran's only managing to add three points in the second half, Mike Qulligan's clinical side were well rewarded for their efforts.
These sides must now, sadly, wait until July 28 for the third round of games. A full 113 days of a break. . .
