Betting: Tony Finau is decent bet to claim Hero World Challenge

Tony Finau - Our tip for this weekend's Golf

MANY of the world’s top golfers will head to the Bahamas this week to take part in the Hero World Challenge, hosted by Tiger Woods.

The Hero World Challenge began in January 2000, with Tom Lehman winning the inaugural tournament in Scottsdale, Arizona. The annual tournament, which benefits the Tiger Woods Foundation, was played at Sherwood Country Club in California from December 2000 through 2013 and has been staged at Albany Golf Club since 2015.

The 18-player field is comprised of the most recent winners of the four major tournaments, the top 11 available players from the Official World Golf Ranking, the defending champion, and two special exemption players. Rickie Fowler is the defending champion of the event which will be televised live on Sky Sports Golf.

Justin Rose tops the betting market to win in the Bahamas at 7/1. However, at odds of 16/1 Tony Finau makes plenty of appeal.

Finau earned a second-place finish at the WGC-HSBC Champions tournament earlier this season. He comes into this week’s event ranked in the top 10 in both scoring average (68.902) and driving distance (320.6).

Finau is a decent each way bet at 16/1 to land the title this weekend in what should be a good watch.
