Munster's Darren Sweetnam to meet with specialist

Munster's Darren Sweetnam, who is to see a specialist this week for a back injury

The Munster squad have started their preparations for Friday night’s Guinness PRO14 clash against Edinburgh at Irish Independent Park (7.35pm).

Munster confirmed today that Irish international Darren Sweetnam will meet with a specialist today for a back injury sustained on international duty with Ireland on Saturday evening. The Cork Con star came off in the 27th minute of Ireland's win over the USA, having started the game particularly well.

The Munster squad returned from Italy yesterday (Monday) afternoon following their win over Zebre in Parma.

Ahead of training today, Munster’s 11 strong international contingent rejoined the team in Limerick this morning to prepare for what is a season defining couple of weeks for the men in red.

James Cronin (leg) and Alby Mathewson (calf) have picked up knocks and will be monitored by the medical team this week.

The following are progressing with rehabilitation: Liam O’Connor (knee), Rhys Marshall (hamstring), Jean Kleyn (thumb), Tommy O’Donnell (ankle), Jack O’Donoghue (knee), Dave O’Callaghan (foot), James Hart (knee), Dan Goggin (knee), Stephen Fitzgerald (foot).
