This Sunday sees a Point to Point at Askeaton
MOIG SOUTH in Askeaton will host its inaugural autumn point-to-point on Sunday next.
Staged on the lands of Tim and Maura Hanley, conveniently located just off the N69, the course is quite rightly regarded as one of the finest in the country.
Leading owners, trainers and jockeys have committed themselves to have an involvement in this early season fixture, with an attractive six race card away at 12.30pm.
The Stonehall Harriers meeting also marks the opening leg of the Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Ladies Jockey Series.
In launching the fixture at the Longcourt Hotel in Newcastle West, Minister of State Patrick O’Donovan said: “I salute its leaders – Master Michael O’Shaughnessy, Chairman Eric Fitzsimons, Secretary John O’Shaughnessy, Treasurer Tommy Kelly and many others – and wish all a most successful, and above all, a safe meeting.”
There will be ample car parking facilities, along with on-site catering, bar and bookmaker facilities at Sunday’s point-to-point in Askeaton.
The fixture is expected to attract a large attendance.
