A Limerick snooker club has launched a new initiative to introduce the sport to 12-18 year old.
This Sunday, November 27 from 2-5pm, St St Johns CMWS, Upper William Street will host an Open Day.
”The purpose of the open day is to promote the club, snooker in Limerick and especially to promote the new St. Johns Snooker Academy for younger players aged 12 to 18,” explains club officials Kevin McMahon.
“Currently St Johns has a core group of approximately 45 members who play snooker in the club, many play on a regular basis during the season however the facts are St John’s have zero playing in the 12-18 year age group and Limerick has had no juniors at national events for far too many years,” he explained.
The new St Johns Snooker Academy aims to address this situation.
On the day there will light refreshments and a number of information stands,
At 4pm the club will host a free snooker exhibition featuring three of the clubs players; Frank Sarsfield, John Torpey and Mark Tuite. All three players have represented Ireland, and won titles at national level.
