Limerick FC aim to bounce back at Shels

SMARTING Limerick FC will look to bounce back from their disappointing EA Sports Cup final defeat when travelling to Tolka Park to face Shelbourne in the First Division this Friday, 7.45pm.

First Division champions Limerick must regroup quickly after the weekend EA Sports Cup final defeat to St Pat’s as Martin Russell’s squad look to maintain their unbeaten league season.

Limerick have recorded 21 wins and two draws in their league fixtures to date and now stand just five games away from completing an unbeaten First Division season.

Martin Russell said: ”It has already been an achievement for the group to do what they have done in the First Division. Even, Liam Buckley referred to it when he had a very good Sporting Fingal side, they didn’t do what we have done.

“We have made good strides this year and I think the lads are committed to seeing it out in the best possible way.

”If we can go undefeated through the final five games it is going to be another great achievement. We still have stuff to play for in the remaining games, definitely.”

After Shels, Limerick face Cobh Ramblers, Athlone Town, Drogheda Utd and Cabinteely in their remaining league games.
