CRESCENT College Comprehensive bid to win their first Clayton Hotels Munster Schools Junior Cup title since 2011 when taking on holders CBC, of Cork, in this season’s decider at Musgrave Park today, Wednesday, 2.30pm.
Crescent are appearing in their sixth Junior Cup final in seven seasons, but the Dooradoyle school has lost each of their three previous final appearances at this level.
Crescent booked their final berth with a convincing 22-0 semi-final victory over Cork heavyweights PBC at Musgrave Park with tries from hooker Ronan Reynolds, number eight Jack Madden and replacement Eoin Feeney. Team captain John Hurley kicked the remaining points for the winners.
The Crescent College management team includes head coach Stephen Tuohy, manager Chris Cullinan and assistant coaches Matt Evans and Ger Slattery.
Crescent have already defeated CBC in the Junior Cup this season, scoring a 17-10 victory when the sides met in the opening round of the competition at Thomond Park in January.
The Dooradoyle side went on to thump Castletroy College 29-3 in the quarter-finals of the Junior Cup.
Victory for Crescent in the Junior Cup final would see the Limerick side gain part compensation at least for their heart-breaking one-point Senior Cup final loss to CBC on Sunday. The Limerick side suffered a 9-8 reverse at Musgrave Park.
