Leyton Orient come out on top against Peterborough

Leyton Orient earned their first back-to-back victories of the season after holding on to a 2-1 win over Peterborough.

Goals from Jack Simpson and Tyreeq Bakinson looked set to be enough for the east London side, but a late Jimmy-Jay Morgan effort made for a nervous finale.

Orient took the lead two minutes before the break. Captain Simpson prodded in a cross from Charlie Wellens past goalkeeper Alex Bass.

The effort lifted the hosts, and they could have doubled their lead right before the interval when Demetri Mitchell found himself in space after a Dom Ballard run, but his connection was poor.

Peterborough needed a response in the second half, but were unable to fashion out any meaningful opportunities.

The home side doubled their advantage when Theo Archibald ran from his own half to square for fellow substitute Bakinson, who slotted home with nine minutes left.

A Morgan header in the 84th minute gave a lifeline to Peterborough, but the hosts held on.
