Mary I claim first title after epic Fitzgibbon Cup final

Mary I are Fitzgibbon Cup champions for the first time following an incredible 1-30 to 3-22 win over UL in Cork IT on Saturday afternoon.

It took two separate periods of extra time as the sides were level at the end of normal time, extra time and Mary I eventually triumphed by two points after an additional spell of two five-minute periods.

Declan Hannon scored 1-12 for Mary I with Cian Lynch chipping in with five points and it was late scores from Lynch and Darragh O’Donovan that finally got Mary I over the line.

For UL Tipp’s John McGrath hit 2-7 with Tom Morrissey adding 1-1.
