ALL three Limerick Third Level Colleges are chasing quarter final places in the Fitzgibbon Cup this Tuesday afternoon.
Champions UL, LIT and Mary Immaculate are all in action at 2.00 with a variety of permutations for the trio, albeit victory will advance all three to the last eight of the championship.
Brian Lohan’s UL will be without injured duo Tony Kelly and Sean Finn for the remainder of their title defence. Today they play NUI Galway in St Patricks GAA grounds in Rhebogue.
With two wins from two, UL know that a win or draw will see they progress. TJ Ryan and his Limerick management will be hoping Tom Morrissey, Pat Ryan, Kevin O’Brien and Gearoid Hegarty avoid injury ahead of the start of the Allianz League on Saturday. Other locals in the UL panel are David McCarthy and Liam O’Sullivan.
In the colours of NUI Galway will be Ahane’s John Fox.
In the same group are Mary Immaculate. They lost to UL last week so need to win against DIT in Parnells GAA Club in Coolock.
Eamonn Cregan’s Limerick side need to win and will look to Declan Hannon, Darragh O’Donovan, Richie English and David Reidy to inspire them.
Meanwhile, Davy Fitzgerald’s LIT are in Cork to play UCC in The Mardyke.
LIT have two wins from two but wins today for UCC and UCD could put the Limerick side in trouble.
Inter-county man Diarmaid Byrnes and Doon’s Niall Maher are the two locals likely to be in the LIT line-up, while UCC will have Ahane’s Dan Morrissey in their team.
