ULSTER Bank League Division 1B previews, Saturday, February 6.
Old Wesley v Shannon, Donnybrook - Saturday, 5.30pm
SHANNON have made a bright start to 2016 in Divison 1B of the Ulster Bank League, winning their last two fixtures, including dishing out a thumping to Belfast Harlequins last weekend.
After a slow start to the campaign, Marcus Horan’s side has now won six of their last eight AIL fixtures and are sitting in a comfortable sixth place in the table.
Shannon trail Saturday’s opponents Old Wesley by two points in Division 1B. The Dublin side ended a four-game losing run against Blackrock last weekend.
However, Wesley have won just two of their last eight 1B fixtures.
Saturday’s tie at Donnybrook will kick-off at 5.30pm.
UL-Bohemian v Blackrock, Thomond Park - Saturday 2.30pm
STRUGGLING UL-Bohemian came away from Templeville Road empty handed last weekend, despite turning in a gutsy display against St Mary’s College.
UL-Bohs are currently ninth, with just one win from their last six. The Annacotty side has won just three of their 12 1B fixtures this season and currently sit seven points ahead of basement side Belfast Harlequins, but four points adrift of eighth-placed Dolphin.
With just six games to go, Gearoid Prendergast’s side will be anxious to start quickly moving up the table.
Saturday’s home tie with Blackrock provides the ‘Red, Red Robins’ with a decent opportunity to pick up a vital win. ‘Rock sit seventh with just two wins from their last 10 league fixtures.
