CLARE

MANAGER: Colm Collins (3rd season)

KEY MEN: Gary Brennan, David Tubridy, Joe Hayes.

LAST MEETING: 2015 Munster SFC quarter-final Clare 0-15, Limerick 0-13.

2015 LEAGUE: Mid-table finish in Division Three with three wins and four defeats.

2015 CHAMPIONSHIP: Beat Limerick and lost to Cork in Munster SFC. Lost to Longford in All Ireland SFC Qualifiers.

2016 CHAMPIONSHIP: Away to Limerick in Munster SFC quarter final on May 28/29.

PREDICTION: They have only three homes games and three wins will be a must as a foundation for a promotion charge. Dual player Podge Collins will miss the majority of games with injury.

KILDARE

MANAGER: Cian O’Neill (1st season)

KEY MEN: Emmet Bolton, Daniel Flynn, Eoghan O’Flaherty.

LAST MEETING: 2012 All Ireland SFC Qualifier KIldare 0-18 Limerick 0-12, AET.

2015 LEAGUE: Relegated after only winning two of their seven games in Division Two.

2015 CHAMPIONSHIP: Beat Laois and lost to Dublin in Leinster SFC. Beat Offaly, Longford and Cork before a heavy All Ireland SFC quarter final loss to Kerry.

2016 CHAMPIONSHIP: Play Wexford in Leinster SFC quarter final in Croke Park on May 29.

PREDICTION: The odds on favourites to make an immediate return to Division Two. With former Limerick coach Cian O’Neill in charge, The Lilywhites have four home games and all against opposition they will expect to beat.

LIMERICK

KEY MEN: Ian Ryan, Gearoid Hegarty, Iain Corbett

2015 LEAGUE: Mid-table finish in Division Three with three wins and four defeats.

2015 CHAMPIONSHIP: Lost to Clare in Munster SFC and then lost to Tyrone in All Ireland SFC Qualifiers.

2016 CHAMPIONSHIP: Home to Clare in Munster SFC quarter final on May 28/29.

PREDICTION: The fixture list handed Limerick four home games, which is a bonus. Early rounds games against Tipperary (home) and Longford (away) are vital and must win games if promotion is the target.

PROMOTION ODDS: 8/1

LONGFORD

MANAGER: Denis Connerton (1st season)

KEY MEN: Brian Kavanagh, Francis McGee, Brian Farrell.

LAST MEETING: 2014 League Limerick 2-11 Longford 0-11

2015 LEAGUE: Promoted from Division Four with six wins and a draw from eight games.

2015 CHAMPIONSHIP: Beat Offaly and lost to Dublin in Leinster SFC. Beat Carlow and Clare and lost to Kildare in All Ireland SFC Qualifiers.

2016 CHAMPIONSHIP: Play Offaly in Tullamore in Leinster SFC preliminary round on May 15.

PREDICTION: Boosted by their O’Byrne Cup win over Dublin and on the back of promotion last Spring. Very kind league fixtures with home games against most of the big guns.

PROMOTION ODDS: 7/2

OFFALY

MANAGER: Pat Flanagan (2nd season)

KEY MEN: Nigel Dunne, Paul McConway, Bernard Allen.

LAST MEETING:2014 League Limerick 1-13 Offaly 1-12

2015 LEAGUE: Promoted from Division Four with five wins, one draw and one loss.

2015 CHAMPIONSHIP: Lost to Longford in Leinster SFC. Beat Waterford and lost to Kildare in All Ireland SFC Qualifiers.

2016 CHAMPIONSHIP: Play Longford in Tullamore in Leinster SFC preliminary round on May 15.

PREDICTION: Promoted last year but the championship wasn’t memorable. League fixtures not kind to them and survival will be no1 target.

SLIGO

MANAGER: Niall Carew (2nd season)

KEY MEN: Charlie Harrison, Niall Murphy, Brendan Egan.

LAST MEETING: 2015 League Limerick 0-14 Sligo 1-9

2015 LEAGUE: Mid-table finish in Division Three with three wins and four defeats.

2015 CHAMPIONSHIP: Beat Roscommon and lost Connacht SFC final heavily to Mayo. Lost to Tyrone in All Ireland SFC Qualifiers.

2016 CHAMPIONSHIP: Await Roscommon, New York or Leitrim in Connacht SFC semi final in June.

PREDICTION: Forward David Kelly opting out is a blow. Also Johnny Martyn will be out for a period. Survival will be the target in a season with just three home games and much travel ahead.

TIPPERARY

MANAGER: Liam Kearns (1st season)

KEY MEN: Michael Quinlivan, Ciaran McDonald, Brian Fox.

LAST MEETING: 2015 League Tipperary 1-14 Limerick 1-2.

2015 LEAGUE: Finished third in Division Three with four wins and three defeats.

2015 CHAMPIONSHIP: Beat Waterford and lost to Kerry in Munster SFC. Beat Louth and lost to Tyrone in All Ireland SFC Qualifiers.

2016 CHAMPIONSHIP: Play Waterford in Dungarvan in Munster SFC quarter final on May 28/29.

PREDICTION: Football in the county is on a high after the Clonmel Commercials Munster club title but that has also robbed them of key players for early league games. Also Colin O’Riordan has departed to Aussie Rules and Steven O’Brien and Seamus Kennedy have committed to the county hurlers.

WESTMEATH

MANAGER: Tom Cribbin (2nd season)

KEY MEN: John Heslin, Kieran Martin, Ger Egan

LAST MEETING: 2011 League Limerick 0-12 Westmeath 0-14

2015 LEAGUE: Relegated after only winning two of their seven games in Division Two

2015 CHAMPIONSHIP: Beat Louth, Wexford and Meath to reach Leinster SFC final, where they lost to Dublin. Lost to Fermanagh in All Ireland SFC Qualifiers.

2016 CHAMPIONSHIP: Await Longford or Offaly in the Leinster SFC quarter final in Mullingar on June 12.

PREDICTION: Much more focus on Westmeath this season after their heroics beating Meath to reach the 2015 Leinster SFC final. But in league football they have suffered back-to-back relegations. With all fit they that attacking talent better than all in the division. They only have three home games but promotion rivals Kildare and Tipp have to go to Mullingar.
