Former Limerick hurling manager and player Richie Bennis will feature on TG4’s new Laochra Gael series which begins this spring.
The Patrickswell man was on the Limerick team that won the county’s last All Ireland in 1973 and was manager when Limerick last reached the All Ireland final in 2007.
The hugely popular programme, now in its 14th season, will begin on Sunday, February 21, and continue for ten weeks. Each programme will be aired at 5.55pm on Sunday and will be repeated at 8pm on Monday. Bennis will be the third Patrickswell man to be featured on the programmed, following Gary Kirby and Ciaran Carey. His programme will be on Sunday, March 13.
Among the others to be included in this year’s series is another former Limerick manager, John Allen. The Cork man played hurling and football for his county before managing Cork to All Ireland success and then guiding Limerick to Munster glory in 2013.
Kerry’s Declan O’Sullivan, the Meehan brothers from Galway, Kilkenny’s JJ Delaney and Tipperary’s Eoin Kelly will also feature.
