Lorent Tolaj smashed home a 77th-minute penalty as Plymouth beat fellow Sky Bet League One strugglers Burton 3-0 at Home Park.
Argyle’s 15-goal top-scorer Tolaj set the tone with an audacious 20-yard lob which beat Burton goalkeeper Bradley Collins in the first minute but bounced off the bar.
Collins had no answer, though, when Brendan Galloway first-time volleyed Joe Ralls’ corner from the left in at the near post after 21 minutes.
As usual Tolaj was involved in all that was good about Argyle’s attacks and teed up Xavier Amaechi as half-time approached.
The attacking midfielder’s shot from the edge of the box was brilliantly saved by Collins as he dived to his right.
The Albion keeper denied Amaechi from the resultant corner, finger-tipping the ball just over the bar as it swung in at the far post.
Tolaj then stretched to pass to sub Mathias Ross who hammered home from close range in the 64th minute as Albion failed to deal with Ralls’ cross into the six-yard box.
Kyran Lofthouse then fouled Galloway for the spot-kick which Tolaj rifled in to rubber-stamp the outcome.
