TEMPLEGLANTINE’S Deeogee syndicate claimed the first big prize of the New Year in Limerick’s Greyhound Stadium when Joey Jojo Junior claimed the 2011 Kennedy Cup in fine style.

TEMPLEGLANTINE’S Deeogee syndicate claimed the first big prize of the New Year in Limerick’s Greyhound Stadium when Joey Jojo Junior claimed the 2011 Kennedy Cup in fine style.

The favourite won by three and a half lengths in 28.54 for William Quirke and gang and Co Tipperary trainer, Patrick Guilfoyle.

The 2011 running of the Kennedy Cup was sponsored by John and Kay Dowling of Vetearch International White E.

From the early rounds Joey Jojo Junior caught the eye and didn’t disappoint in the final on Saturday night.

Beaten into second was Air Force Hawk for Keith Doherty and Peter O’Toole of Co Meath, while third was Ennis’ Seamus Duggan with Ballyhannon.

Elsewhere on the card, Kilkenny Jakosei won the Schenker A3 Novice 750 Final for Hazel Hickey of Co Kilkenny.

In 42.74 the winner beat Shake N Squeeze into second for Ben Hough of Ardagh and Shanagolden’s Cillian Greaney.

On the night there was a double for Clarecastle’s Brian McInerney with Manus Returns and Manus Chestnut.

Mungret’s Michael O’Grady on an A4 525 with New Route in 29.09. Another local success was Kilmeedy’s James Kelly when Gurtnacrehy Boss won an A1 525 in 29.08.
