Joseph Olowu scored a second-half header as Stockport battled to a hard-fought 1-0 League One win over struggling Blackpool.
The hosts began the game brightly and came close to opening the scoring after five minutes when Kyle Wootton powered a header at goalkeeper Franco Ravizzoli.
Stockport squandered a golden opportunity to take the lead when Nathan Lowe headed wide from Jack Diamond’s clipped cross.
A smart diving save from Ravizzoli kept a curling Oliver Norwood free-kick out before Lowe blazed over the crossbar from close range as the Hatters continued to dominate.
Blackpool missed a gilt-edged chance to take the lead against the run of play when Dale Taylor scuffed a shot at goalkeeper Ben Hinchcliffe.
Wootton missed the target with a header before Ben Osborn curled a shot over the crossbar as Stockport went into half-time on the front foot.
It took an acrobatic save from Ravizzoli to keep out a curling effort from Odin Bailey, but from the following corner, Corey O’Keeffe headed the ball across goal for Olowu to glance home after 63 minutes.
Blackpool rallied, but Stockport held firm to inflict Stephen Dobbie’s first defeat as caretaker Blackpool boss.
