Na Piarsaigh’s U-21 footballers - backed by some of their top hurlers - booked their place in the county semi-final thanks to a 2-15 to 2-4 win over Fr Casey’s on Thursday night.

Ronan Lynch, Will O’Donoghue, David Dempsey and Peter and Michael Casey all featured in their impressive win.

David Dempsey was the two-goal hero while O’Donoghue dominated the game from midfield.

Na Piarsaigh were 1-9 to 1-2 up at the break and continued to dominate throughout a niggly second half that saw play stopped on two occasions as tempers flared.

Aidan Enright’s goal from a quickly-taken free (his second goal of the night) gave the Abbeyfeale men a glimmer of hope but that was quickly extinguished when Dempsey got his second to send the city side on their way to an 11-point win.

Na Piarsaigh now turn their attentions to Sunday’s senior football league final against Dromcollogher-Broadford before getting back to U-21 action next weekend when they play their semi-final.

Adare and Rathkeale-Cappagh are already through to the last four and the last semi-finalist will be decided on Saturday when Oola and Tory Gaels meet.
