Ronan Curtis’ penalty six minutes into added time earned Port Vale a dramatic first league win of the season with a 2-1 victory over 10-man Mansfield.
Rhys Oates looked to have earned the Stags a late point when he cancelled out Devante Cole’s opener.
But Curtis stepped up and converted from 12 yards after Will Evans conceded a stoppage-time spot-kick at Vale Park.
Liam Roberts did well to keep out dangerous Cole from close range early on.
The Stags had to play for almost 80 minutes with 10 men after Ryan Sweeney pulled Ruari Paton to the ground.
Cole put the hosts in front in the 53rd minute as he slid in to turn home Paton’s teasing ball for his third goal in as many games.
Oates’ equaliser was brilliant. He took Max Dickov’s ball down expertly and cut on to his left foot before rifling a fine strike into the top corner.
But there was still time for Curtis to convert from the spot to earn Darren Moore’s side a welcome win in front of their home fans.
