Over 1,000 Rangers fans protested against boss Russell Martin and chief executive Patrick Stewart outside Ibrox ahead of the Premier Sports Cup tie against Hibernian.
The Union Bears, the Ultras-style supporters group, led the protest and were backed by hundreds of fellow supporters dismayed by the start to the season under Martin, who was an unpopular appointment in the summer.
A banner was held up which read: “Take aim against Stewart and Martin” while posters were held up showing a red diagonal line through photographs of both men.
Fans sporadically chanted, “Martin, Martin get to f***”, and “Russell Martin, get out of our club” among other chants, albeit there was less passion about the protest than might have been expected given the toxicity which erupted inside the stadium during Rangers’ 2-0 home defeat by Hearts last weekend.
The loss left the Light Blues in 10th position in the William Hill Premiership, having failed to win any of their first five league matches, the worst start to the league in 47 years. Results on Saturday afternoon means they are now 11th.
The Light Blues were also bounced out of the Champions League qualifiers by Club Brugge with a 9-1 aggregate defeat.
