Sonny Bradley effort enough as Lincoln edge victory at Burton

Sonny Bradley’s first-half header was enough to clinch all three points as Lincoln recorded a 1-0 League One victory over Burton.

Bradley broke the deadlock with a close-range header from Tom Bayliss’ corner midway through the first half to settle a tightly-fought encounter.

Lincoln’s Ben House had an early header saved by Kamil Dudek, on his League debut, whilst Ugandan international defender Toby Sibbick was denied a first Brewers goal by George Wickens in the Lincoln goal.

Tyrese Shade twice came close to equalising for Albion as he fizzed an angled shot just wide before forcing Wickens to save his back-post header.

Albion had strong shouts for a penalty turned away by referee Matt Corlett after Charlie Webster’s corner appeared to be handled – amidst a scramble in the box right at the end of the first half.

Reeco Hackett lashed a long-range effort wide of the target with 20 minutes to go as Lincoln sought to put the game to bed.

Substitute Freddie Draper also squandered a chance to make it two, seizing on a poor pass before smashing a shot against the base of the post.

The hosts continued to search for an equaliser but both Alex Hartridge and Webster fired over as late pressure failed to bring any reward.
