According to well-placed sources ticket demand is “huge”.

Local GAA clubs have reported unprecedented levels of enquiries — there are currently no tickets on public sale.

In the region of 6,000 stand tickets are reserved for season ticket holders, with players, officials and sponsors also getting a set allocation.

The clubs are receiving their allocations over the coming days.

On Wednesday evening one club posted on social media that “due to unprecedented demand for tickets for this match, the club will be unable to allocate any stand tickets to juvenile or family juvenile requests. If anyone would like to change their order to terrace tickets, we should be able to facilitate any early requests.”

With Limerick chasing a vital win to help keep their Munster hopes alive — and The Rebels’ strong form adding extra bite — the fixture is shaping up to be one of the most electric in recent memory.

"From what we’re seeing, this game will be sold out well in advance," the source said. "There’s been incredible interest - huge. Tickets are like gold dust. It’s the main topic of discussion around the place at the moment - it will be some day in the city,” they added.

Both counties will travel to the Ennis Road venue in huge numbers. TUS Gaelic Grounds has a capacity of around 43,000, but demand is already exceeding availability.

Meanwhile, there are still tickets available for Clare's Munster hurling clash with Tipperary at Cusack Park in Ennis on Saturday evening. The Zimmer Biomet Páirc Chíosóg has a capacity of approximately 14,000.
